Opening rar. files on a mac?

Are there any other mac users out there experiencing the same problems I am in regards to opening rar. files? I have a rar. loader for VLC but it never works, same with another program called UnrarX. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated this is getting frustrating. (by the way I have an intel based macbook I don't think it matters but you never know)

Gratulations, you have the one and only OS in the universe!
