Mine disappeared, but the "edit avatar" page appeared as if it was still there. If I hit "save changes", however, it would say no avatar was selected. I deleted the current (non-?) avatar and now there's no option to upload one.

Same, this happened to me when I became a Elite Member also.

It's still the same for me. And yeah it happened after I became Elite Member as well.
